KING'S MEN'S SOCCER DROPS 2-1 DECISION TO ELMIRA
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's soccer team held a 16-4 advantage in shots, but visiting Elmira College found the back of the net more often as the Soaring Eagles posted a 2-1 victory Wednesday night at McCarthy Stadium.
With the win Elmira improved to 4-10-2 on the year while King's slipped to 10-6-1.
Elmira scored first at 15:49 when Brenda Wise scored an unassisted goal. The Eagles made it a 2-0 game at 65:19 on a goal by Tony Barraco.
The Monarchs cut the lead to 2-1 with 12:11 left in the match when Steven Valencia found he back of the net on a double-assist by Alastair Dinnan and Cassidy Tripolitis.
The Monarchs nearly tied the game in the 82nd minute but a Tripolitis goal off a free kick was ruled offsides.
The Monarchs also owned a 7-0 advantage in corer kicks. King's goalie Owen Geedey made one save in the game.
King's will close out the regular-season Saturday with a 11:00 AM game at FDU-Florham in Madison, NJ. The Monarchs will then play in the Freedom Conference Tournament on Tuesday against an opponent yet to be determined.
