KING'S SWIMMERS CONTINUE STRONG START WITH WINS OVER CABRINI

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College men's and women's swimming teams both continued their solid early-season performances by sweeping a dual meet from Cabrini College Saturday in Radnor.
King's men improved to 2-0 with a 111-70 victory while the women evened their mark at 1-1 after posting a 122-76 triumph.
In the 200-freestyle King's had the top-two finishers as Amanda Schwerdtman won the event with a time of 2:08.77 while Kaelyn Gardner was second at 2:14.35.  Schwerdtman also captured the 500-freestyle with a time of 5:35.04, winning by nearly 20 seconds.
Kirsten Siwy continued her domination in the 200-individual medley, capturing the event in a 2:17.94 while winning by nearly a seven-second margin. She also won the 100-freestyle at 57.06.
Shannon Dolan won the 1,000-freestyle with a time of 11:34.97. King's again finished one-two in the 50-freestyle as Melina Good touched first with a 26.27 while Alyssa Gesek followed next at 27.32.
Gardner captured the 200-butterfly at 2:22.39 while Gesek was second with a 2:28.26 while Noelle Pedersen was a winner in the 200-backstroke at 2:18.81 and won by 9.10 second margin.
In the 400-medley relay, King's team of Pedersen, Gardner, Good, and Emily Bove  posted a winning time of 4:24.64, winning by a 10.16 margin.
For the men, James Martin won the 200-butterfly with a time of 2:07.19 while Tyler Higgins was second at 2:10.99. Higgins was also second in the 500-freestyle with a 5:17.09. Dan Weekes was victorious in the 100-freestyle with a 48.90, edging out teammate Bryce Gorshardt who was second at 48.92. He was also second in the 200-freestyle with a time of 1:51.93.
Jason Yerger captured the 200-backstroke at 2:08.29, winning by a 8.27 margin. Â Chris Michael was a winner in the 200-breaststroke at 2:28.07, winning by a 11.73 margin.
King's returns to the pool Saturday with a 1:00 PM matchup at Mount Saint Mary's in  Newburgh , NY.
