King's Basketball Teams to Play Final Home Games Saturday vs. DeSales, Follow Games Online

KING'S BASKETBALL TEAMS HOSTING DESALES SATURDAY ON SENIOR DAY

WILKES-BARRE — The King's College basketball teams will play their final home games of the season on Saturday when both the women's and men's squads host Freedom Conference rival DeSales University in Scandlon Gym. The women tip off at 1:00 PM with the men to follow at 3:00 PM.

The King's women stand at 4-17 overall and 2-9 in the Freedom Conference league after a 80-54 loss at Misericordia University on Wednesday. The Bulldogs are 17-5 overall and are 9-2 in the league after a 75-35 win over Wilkes on Wednesday. DeSales won the first meeting between the teams 77-47 on January 25 in Center Valley.

King's has been led by freshman power-forward Rebecca Prociak who averages 11.6 points and 6.9 rebounds per-game.  Senior small forward Kayla Feairheller follows with 8.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, and team highs of 45 assists and 23 three-pointers. Sophomore forward Alexis Steeber has tallied 8.8 points and 4.9 rebounds while junior center Olivia Hoffman adds 8.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 82 blocked shots. 

Senior guard Shae Grim posts 5.3 points and 3.0 rebounds while sophomore guard-forward Erin Schmidt nets 3.8 points with 23 three-pointers. Senior point-guard Kasey Seitz chips in with 2.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 26 assists. The Lady Monarchs average 53.1 points per-game while allowing 63.9 each contest.


DeSales is led by Morgan McCollian with 15.2 points and 8.5 rebounds. Leandra Sterner follows with 11.8 points and 28 three-pointers while Kaitlin Kelly adds 7.8 points and 42 three-pointers. DeSales averages 68.5 points while allowing 56.9 each contest.

The King's men stand at 5-17 overall and 1-10 in Freedom Conference play after an 80-75 overtime loss to Misericordia on Wednesday. Eight of the Monarchs last nine losses have come by six points or less. DeSales is 16-6 overall and 8-3 in league games after a last-second 72-71 road win over Wilkes on Wednesday. DeSales won the first meeting between the teams 77-74 January 25 in Center Valley.

King's has been paced by senior power forward Dan Rutecki who leads the team with 14.2 points and 8.2 rebounds while standing first on the team with 51 assists and 24 steals. Junior guard Connor Callejas follows with 13.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 45 assists, and a team-high 54 three-pointers. Sophomore guard Jake Barber has tallied 7.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, and 29 three-pointers. 

Freshman guard Tyler Millan has tallied 6.5 points with 28 three-pointers while senior guard John Fazzini adds 6.5 points, 2.2 rebounds, 38 assists, and 24 three-pointers. Junior forward Chris Fazzini contributes 6.0 points and 4.0 rebounds while rookie center Andrew Hudak chips in with 4.8 points and 4.5 boards.  The Monarchs average 68.5 points while allowing 71.2 per-game.

DeSales is led by Ryan Callahan 12.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 25 blocked shots. Kuity Slanger follows with 11.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists while Brian Laird contributes 11.0 points with 58 three-pointers. Connor Jones chips in with 10.1 points3.0 rebounds. 
The Bulldogs average 79.3 points while yielding 70.9 each contest.

Both King's women's and men's senior players will be recognized before the start of their respective games, along with senior cheerleaders prior to the men's contest.

After concluding their games with DeSales, both King's teams will return to Freedom Conference play Tuesday at cross-town rival Wilkes in the Marts Center. The women tip off at 6:00 PM with the men to follow at 8:00 PM.
