AURORA, NY -- Freshman Liam McLoughlin registered the second hat trick of his young career to power the King's College men's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over host Wells College Thursday night in Aurora, NY.
With the win, King's improved to 3-2 while Wells slipped to 1-2-1.
King's opened the scoring 17:40 into the game when McLoughlin scored an unassisted goal. The Monarchs struck again quickly just 1:05 later when McLoughlin once more found the net, this time off a pass by Zach Wolcott.
Wells cut the lead to 2-1 on an unassisted goal by Ben Schanbacher at the 62:03 mark. But McLoughlin closed the door when he struck net of an assist from Steven Grebe to set the final score.
King's outshot Wells 21-3 and held a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks. King's goalie Owen Geedey made two saves in net for the Monarchs.
The Monarchs travel on Saturday to play SUNY-New Paltz at 1:00 PM
