KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER POSTS 9-0 WIN OVER CLARKS SUMMIT

WILKES-BARRE — The King's College women's soccer team equaled the second-highest single-game total in program history as the Lady Monarchs posted a 9-0 victory over visiting Clarks Summit University Wednesday at McCarthy Stadium.

With the win King's improved to 2-0 while Clarks Summit slipped to 0-2.

The Lady Monarchs equaled the second-highest scoring mark of nine set against Keystone in 2003 as the team scored the most goals in a game since the 2006 squad scored eight on two occasions.

King's jumped out to a 3-0 lead after just 11:11 expires thanks to a hat-trick by Danielle Putnam and a pair of assists from Allison Andrew. Angela Edgell scored her first collegiate goal at 16:43 before Breaunna Colonna-Dotter added her first goal at 25:28 as the Lady Monarchs took a 5-0 lead into the half-time break.

In the second stanza Andrew scored at 52:28  while freshmen teammates Stephanie Corea, Cassie Keady, and Lauren Geiger all found the back of the nets as collegians for the first time.

Putnam finished with three goals while Andrew followed with one goal and two assists. Edgell tallied one goal and one assist while Breanna Jacinto chipped in with two assists.

King's outshot Clarks Summit 34-1 and held a 18-0 advantage in corner kicks.

King's goalies Jess Schenfeld and Elizabeth Nolen played one half each and neither were forced to make a save thanks to a strong KIng's defensive effort.  King's travels to Huntingdon on Saturday to face Juniata College at 5:00 PM.
