King's Basketball Teams Set for Important MAC Freedom Doubleheader at Delaware Valley

KING'S BASKETBALL TEAMS HEADING TO DELAWARE VALLEY WEDNESDAY TO RESUME FREEDOM CONFERENCE SLATE

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's and men's basketball teams will return to MAC Freedom Conference play Wednesday night when both teams travel to face Delaware Valley University.  The women tip off at 6:00 PM with the men to follow at 8:00 PM.

King's women (11-8/6-2) are tied for first-place in a crowded Freedom Conference race with FDU-Florham (13-6/6-2) while Manhattanville (5-2), DeSales (5-3), Misericordia (4-3) and Delaware Valley (4-4) are all within striking distance.

The Lady Monarchs come off a 65-62 overtime win at Manhattanville on Saturday, handing the Valiants both their conference losses this season. Delaware Valley, which is 7-12 overall, come off a 67-61 win over Wilkes on Saturday. King's won the first matchup between the teams 65-51 January 3 at home in Scandlon Gym.

Sophomore forward Rebecca Prociak, who was named MAC Freedom "Player of the Week" on Monday, tops King's with 13.5 points and 8.4 rebounds per-game. Sophomore guard Mackenzie Yori follows with 11.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and a team-high 41 three-pointers. Junior forward Alexis Steeber adds 11.7 points and 5.5 rebounds while senior center Olivia Hoffman contributes 8.0 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and a team-high 69 blocked shots. King's averages 50.4 points while yielding 59.7 each contest.

The Aggies are led by sophomore guard Ashley Smink who averages 15.5 points and 3,5 rebounds with 38 three-pointers. Junior guard Danielle Skedzielewski follows with 11.4 points and 5.0 rebounds while junior forward Monika Smallwood chips in with 8.9 points and 6.7 boards. Delaware Valley averages 62.1 points while allowing 65.0.

On the men's side, King's enters the game with a 8-11 overall record and are in fifth place in the Freedom Conference with a 4-4 mark following a come-from-behind 64-60 win at Manhattanville on Saturday. With a win Saturday, the Monarchs will hand head coach J.P. Andrejko his 250th career victory at King's. Delaware Valley stands at 4-15 and 2-6 in conference play after nearly upsetting first-place Wilkes in a 58-57 road loss Saturday. King's won the first meeting between the teams 92-73 January 3 in Scandlon Gym. 

The Monarchs are led by senior guard Connor Callejas who is averaging 17.6 points with 2.1 assists and a team-high 51 three pointers. Senior forward Chris Fazzini follows with 11.9 points and 5.7 rebounds and needs 40 points to reach the 1,000-point plateau. Freshman guard Noah Tanner adds 9.4 points while sophomore guard Tyler Millan contributes 8.3 points with 25 three-pointers. Sophomore guard Joshua Bailey chips in with 7.7 points and 19 three-pointers. The Monarchs average 79.6 points while allowing 83.4 each contest.

The Aggies are paced by junior guard Alex Matsunye who averages 11.3 points and 5.8 rebounds while freshman forward Damian Washington follows with 11.2 points and 4.8 boards. Junior guard Willie Britton contributes 10.8 points and 3.4 rebounds. Delaware Valley averages 67.8 points per-game while allowing 76.2.  

King's teams will return home Saturday with a doubleheader against Eastern University. The women play at 1:00 PM while the men follow at 3:00 PM.
