KING'S WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO CORTLAND STATE, 6-1
CORTLAND, NY -- Kirsten McDowell scored one goal and dished out four assists as the host Cortland State University women's ice hockey team posted a 6-1 victory over visiting King's College Friday in Cortland, NY.
With the win, Cortland improved to 3-7-2 while King's slipped to 0-8-1.
Cortland scored two goals in each of the three periods. McDowell scored the first goal of the game, then assisted on goals three-through six. Emily King and Emily Rose added one goal and one assist apiece while Samantha Pippin posted two assists.
King's scored its goal with 9:55 left in the contest when Gracen Mahoney struck net for her first career goal off assists from Mary Deyell and Josée Aitken.
Cortland owned a 52-8 advantage in shots and won 48 of the 59 faceoffs. King's goalie Kiva Sierra Stoltz made 46 saves in the game while Red Dragon keepers Rachael Farmer and Victoria Gibson combined for seven stops.
King's returns to home ice on Sunday when the Lady Monarchs host Nichols College at 2:00 PM at Revolution Ice in Pittston.
