WILKES-BARRE, PA (July 6, 2026) -- The King's College women's ice hockey program has added Amanda Sokol to its coaching staff, head coach Quinn La Rock announced, continuing her impact on the Monarchs following a historic playing career.

Sokol joins the coaching staff following a standout four-year playing career in which she established herself as one of the leaders of the women's ice hockey program. A team captain and cornerstone of the Monarchs' culture, Sokol helped guide the continued growth of the program while serving as a leader both on and off the ice.

"Incredibly excited to have Moose joining our coaching staff this year," said La Rock. "From my first day at King's, it was clear that she embodies everything it means to be a Monarch. As a player, Moose was a leader who consistently set the standard for our program, and I have no doubt she will bring that same passion and leadership to her new role."

During her time as a student-athlete, Sokol earned captaincy roles with both the women's ice hockey and women's golf programs. She also served as a representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was a member of King's Captain's Club, demonstrating a commitment to leadership across the athletic department.

On the ice, Sokol left a lasting mark on the women's hockey program. She graduated as the program's all-time leader with 42 career points while also ranking second in points per game (0.44), third in career goals (14), tied for third in career power-play goals (4), and fifth in games played (95). Her accomplishments, combined with her leadership as a team captain, helped establish her as one of the most impactful student-athletes in program history.

La Rock added that Sokol's familiarity with the program will be an asset as the team welcomes a new group of student-athletes.

"Her experience and connection to our culture will be invaluable as we help our large incoming class adjust to the expectations and demands of college hockey," said La Rock.

In addition to her success as a student-athlete, Sokol gained experience behind the scenes as a manager for the King's College men's ice hockey program. In that role, she assisted with team operations, recruiting organization, scheduling, logistics, and game-day preparation, providing valuable insight into the administrative side of collegiate athletics.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to give back to the program that has given me so much over the past four years," said Sokol. "I look forward to supporting our student-athletes and coaching staff while continuing to contribute to the team's growth in this new role."

A biology and psychology double major, Sokol balanced her athletic commitments with extensive academic and leadership involvement throughout her time at King's. She served in Student Government, participated in multiple campus organizations, and conducted both biology and psychology research projects as an undergraduate student.

As an assistant coach, Sokol will assist with all aspects of the King's women's ice hockey program, including player development, recruiting, practice planning, and game-day operations.
