King's Takes Home MAC Freedom Victory 3-0

WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 2, 2018) – The Monarchs were able to clinch the win tonight against the Delaware Valley University Aggies 3-0. They now hold a conference record of 2-2 in MAC Freedom play, their overall record sitting at 12-5. The team hit a .337 average tonight in all three sets with final set scores of 25-11, 25-15 and 25-16. It was Rachel Galante, Rachel Miller and Becca Goldberg who all contributed six kills toward the win. Taylor Mueller held down 10 digs and Wiatt Hoffman 27 assists.

King's College was able to make short work of this match, coming in hot in the first set. As a team the squad put up a .464 hitting percentage while Del. Valley hit .000. The Aggies were only able to get in six kills during the set while at one point the Monarchs hit a nine-point streak containing six kills and two aces. Galante took the lead this set with four kills. It was Grace Frati with a set-up from Goldberg that sank the match point.
 
In the second set, the teams had a great rally exchanging points to keep it even. At a 12-10 score with King's up, the Aggies made six errors back-to-back followed by four kills by Miller (2), Hoffmann and Danielle Kitchner then another error to boost the score 22-10 and solidifying the set victory for the Monarchs.

This was another set where the Aggies struggled with errors ultimately ending the set with 10. The Monarchs were able to sink 11 kills this time and numerous streaks of unanswered points, the highest being six at one point. Olivia Musto led this set in kills with three, Galante and Goldberg next with two. Karissa Hartzell and Musto delivered the last two kills by King's before Del. Val committed two errors and gave up the match.

The Monarch's play Centenary University tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. in their home of Hackettstown, N.J. at the John M. Reeves Student Recreation Center.
