King's Finishes Conference Play 3-4 Against DeSales

WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 24, 2018) – In the last Middle Atlantic Conference match-up of the season, King's College fell to DeSales University in three sets. With set scores of 25-13, 25-22 and 25-9 DeSales advances to 7-0 in conference play while King's finishes 3-4.

It was a heavy defense game with freshmen Taylor Mueller recording 15 digs and Grace Frati with 11 of her own while senior Rachel Miller lifted eight. Miller was also able to sneak in three blocks at the net.  Miller and Mueller both tallied an ace in an effort to tie up the game while Wiatt Hoffmann tallied 26 assists. Miller slammed 12 kills, Becca Goldberg six and Olivia Musto five.

Although the Bulldogs gave up the first point in set one, they were able to hold King's to only eight kills. Frati, Goldberg and Miller snuck a few in while Musto came in hot sinking three. Mueller also scored an early ace, but it wouldn't be enough as DeSales took the win.

The next set was a battle between rallies as teams were able to go point for point the majority of the set. King's scored 15 kills and hit a .205, Miller taking seven of the executions this set, an ace and three solo blocks. Goldberg and Danielle Kitchner contributed to keep the scores close and Hoffmann and Cleo Schultz made an addition as well. Two kills by Bulldog's Gabby Savite set up the DeSales second victory.

The third set was short as only five kills were made. Three by Miller, two by fellow senior Musto and one by Schultz. DeSales held the pressure and ultimately took the third set, giving them the win.

Next up is Senior Night for three Monarchs on October 24, at the McGrane Gymnasium. Celebrations will commence at 6:00 p.m. where King's will face Keystone College to close out their season.
