Men's and Women's Swim Meet Notes - SUNY New Paltz & Hartwick

WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 26, 2018) – King's men's and women's swimming heads to Oneonta, NY after a huge win against Cabrini University at home. The Monarchs will have a double dual this Saturday where they face SUNY New Platz and host Hartwick College.
 
Event Details:
Opponent: vs. SUNY New Platz & Hartwick College
Time: 1:00 p.m.
Location: Oneonta, NY – Sally Griffiths Herbert '88 Aquatics Center (Directions)
 
Last Time Out: Both teams walked away with a victory after their home debut and sit at 1-0. The women finished against the Cabrini Cavaliers 126-79 while the men 137-68. Many of King's winners were just seconds away from holding a new pool record.
 
The Book on King's:
  • This is the first time the Monarchs will compete against Hartwick and SUNY New Platz.
  • King's men and women walked away with eight first place finishes each in their last meet against Cabrini.
  • Claire Coe and Kirsten Siwy led the women, both grabbing two first place spots.
  • Daniel Weekes and Bryce Groshardt tied it up for the lead with two golds.
  • Four out of five of the top swims from the women's meet were by King's swimmers (Coe, Siwy, Liz Savidge, and the 200 Medley A Relay team)
  • Three of five top swims were by the men for their events Chris Soutter holding spot three and four and the 200 Medley Relay team at fifth.
     
The Book on the New Platz Hawks:
  • The meet is the first of the season set in traditional meet format for SUNY New Paltz.
  • Last week, SUNY New Paltz participated in the unofficial Cortland Pumpkin Relays and placed second, trailing behind SUNY Cortland 570-522 on the women's side and 614-510 on the men's side. 
  • Two men found themselves in the top five swimmers of the meet, Timothy Stecher (second) and Rory Neal (fourth)
  • The men's 200 Free Relay team landed at third for top swims.
  • The women claimed three spots on the top five swims of the meet, 200 Free Relay team (second), Chelsea Angulas in the 50 Free (fourth) and the 400 Medley Relay team (fifth).
The Book on the Hartwick Hawks:
  • Hartwick College has already had three meets this season: two invitationals and a dual meet.
  • The men remain undefeated, while the women claimed two meet wins and one second place finish.
  • Olivia Bart was the meet's top swimmer with two first place finishes. Caroline Dennis came in third, Gina Grauer fourth and Channing Lewis fifth.
  • The team grabbed four of the five top swims. Olivia Bart took the first, second and third top swims while the 200 Free Relay team took fifth.
  • The men had three swimmers in the top five, Aron Zhang at third, Michael Baione at fourth and Ryan Mcloughlin at fifth.
  • Their 200 Free Relay team finished as second in the day's top swims while Michael Baione sits at fifth best swim for the 100 Free with a time of 48.39.
 
 
Up Next: The Monarchs travel to University of Scranton for a November 2, meet at 6:00 p.m.
