WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 8, 2018) – The King's College men's soccer team will face their second local rival in a row on Tuesday night when they host Wilkes University for a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom contest at 7 p.m. in McCarthy Stadium.

Last Time Out: The Monarchs won at Misericordia for just the second time in program history defeating the Cougars 2-0 to stay atop the conference standings.
Ryan Romeo scored his first career goal in the 21st minute off an assist by
Abdullah Alsubaie following a corner kick by
Alastair Dinnan.
Aidan DeCamillo combined with
Liam McLoughlin on a beautiful give and go for King's second goal 14 minutes later.
Owen Geedey made three saves in net to preserve his seventh shutout of the season.
The Book On The Monarchs (7-3-2, 2-0-0 MAC Freedom):
- King's continues to have the top-ranked defense in the MAC Freedom and one of the best in the nation. The Monarchs are the only MAC Freedom team yet to concede a goal in conference play through the first two matches of the season. The eighth shutout of the year on Saturday moved the Monarchs into the top 10 of the nation with the ninth-ranked team goals against average of 0.39. Their shutout percentage of .667 is up to 13th while their save percentage of .875 is 17th. KC leads the conference in least goals allowed with five while playing the most minutes.
- The Monarchs are not only outscoring the opposition 19-5 this season, they are also outshooting them 203-84. King's has put more shots on goal than they have allowed with 88 while 43.3% of their shots have been on goal. The Monarch defense is allowing just 7.0 shots per match. The team continues to lead the conference and are 18th in the nation with 7.08 corner kicks taken per match.
- Senior keeper Owen Geedey has been a rock in goal for the Monarchs this season. The senior captain has been honored twice as the MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week and is 14th in the nation with 1136:12 minutes played. His has recorded seven shutouts this season which is ranked eighth in the nation and is one shy of his own school record of eight he recorded in 2016. He is currently the school record holder with 29 career shutouts. His .875 save percentage is the best in the conference and up 21st in the nation while his 0.40 goals against average is up to ninth in the nation. Geedey has a career GAA of 0.58.
- Junior forward Aidan DeCamillo leads the Monarchs and is tied for 10th in the MAC Freedom with nine points on four goals and one assist. His .565 shot accuracy is the second best in the conference. DeCamillo has scored in both of King's conference wins.
- Defender August Axtman continues to be one of King's top scorers as well as anchoring the defense. The junior captain has been named the MAC Freedom Defender of the Week twice this season while scoring a team-leading four goals. Axtman has scored three of his goals on penalty kicks which gives him in his career. His four goals this season are tied for seventh in the MAC Freedom. His two game-winning goals are the most in the conference.
- Seven other Monarchs have scored this year lead by sophomores Liam McLoughlin with three and Sam Pipicelli with two.
- Freshman Quentin Szeker-Cortes sits in a tie for fifth in the conference with four assists. The defender has recorded all his assists off set pieces as he has taken many of the free kicks and corner kicks for the Monarchs.
- The Monarchs are on a five-match unbeaten streak and have won their past three by shutout.
- King's is 11-18-7 against Wilkes dating back to the 1982 season but have been very successful against the Colonels recently. The Monarchs have outscored Wilkes 7-1 in the past four meetings including 1-0 victories the past two years. KC is on a 12-match unbeaten streak against Wilkes. The Monarchs are 6-5-2 when they are the home team in the series.
The Book On The Colonels (6-4-1, 1-1-0 MAC Freedom):
- Wilkes enters Tuesday's conference match with a 6-4-1 overall record and 1-1 mark in the MAC Freedom following Saturday night's 3-1 loss to DeSales. The Colonels defeated Delaware Valley 3-1 in their first conference match.
- WU is 3-2-1 on the road this season and are playing their first MAC Freedom match away from Schmidt Stadium. The Colonels have one common opponent with the Monarchs after defeating Scranton 3-1 a couple weeks ago at home.
- Michael Piranian is in his second season as head coach of the Colonels. The Virginia Tech graduate will see both conference co-leaders this week as WU will travel to face Eastern on Saturday.
- Wilkes has scored 19 goals this season with 12 occurring in the second half of matches. 11 of the 14 goals they have conceded have also occurred in the second half.
- Senior Camry Huff leads the Colonels with 14 points on four goals and six assists. The 2017 All-MAC Freedom second teamer has recorded a point in the past five matches. He is third in the conference in points and assists.
- Junior Kyle Bentz has recorded 13 points on a team-leading five goals and three assists. Bentz had a career day with two goals and one assist in a 3-1 victory over Scranton.
- Freshman Gabriel Nieves, junior Ed Lukowski, and sophomore Jeffrey Eager-Heffner have all scored two goals for Wilkes.
- Senior keeper Tim Gallagher has recorded three shutouts this season and has a 1.09 GAA in 908:52 minutes of action. He is second in the conference in minutes played and fourth in GAA.
- The Colonels are second in the conference and 20th in the nation with 7.00 corner kicks taken per match.
