WILKES-BARRE, PA (November 7, 2018) – The King's College men's ice hockey team will continue their homestand with two United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) games at Revolution Ice Centre on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. The Monarchs will host the Cougars at 7 p.m. on Friday before taking on the Mustangs in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) matchup at 4 p.m. on Saturday in Pittston.

Last Time Out: Lebanon Valley scored three times in the first 7:09 on their way to a 7-2 victory over the Monarchs on Saturday afternoon at Revolution Ice.

Stevenson won a thrilling 5-4 game against Chatham in overtime on Saturday afternoon in Maryland. The Cougars opened up a 3-0 lead on three power play goals before the Mustangs charged right back to even the score in the opening minutes of the third period. After the Cougars retook the lead Stevenson scored a power play goal with less than five minutes left and then Carl Lyden scored the game-winner on the power play 1:05 into the extra session. Both teams will be in Wilkes-Barre this weekend to take on King's and Wilkes.
The Book On The Monarchs (0-4-0, 0-2-0 UCHC, 0-1-0 MAC):
- The Monarchs found the back of the net for the first time this season last weekend scoring five goals in two games. King's is getting more chances to score as they have increased their shot total in every game so far.
- Senior Jake Tugnutt has been excellent in goal this year making 88 saves in two games played. He has a 4.50 goals against average and a .907 save percentage. Six of the nine goals he has allowed have been on the power play.
- Sophomore Luciano Bucci leads the team in points with three on three assists. Bucci has also won 29 of 56 faceoffs for a team-best .518 percentage
- Sophomore Christian La Croix has scored two goals on a team-leading 16 shots. He scored a power play goal to cut the deficit to 4-3 at the end of the second period against Elmira last Friday.
- Seniors Nicholas Palumbo, Jamie Lukas, and Nicholas Gullo scored a goal each this past weekend for the Monarchs. Palumbo also added an assist. Lukas is second on the team with 15 shots and has blocked a team-leading six shots.
- The Monarchs struggled with penalties last weekend committing 14 in two games for 39 minutes. Four of the seven goals allowed against Elmira and one against Lebanon Valley were power play goals. KC is averaging 14.8 penalty minutes per game this season.
- Freshman Brandon Daigle made 28 saves against Leb Val in relief on Saturday afternoon. He has a GAA of 4.54 and a save percentage of .875 in 52:51 minutes of action.
The Book On The Cougars (0-2-0, 0-1-0 UCHC):
- Chatham is also in their second season as a varsity program going 2-20-3 in their inaugural season. Both victories were against the Monarchs in tight games.
- The Cougars won a low-scoring 2-1 game in Pittsburgh before escaping Pittston with a 4-2 victory near the end of the year.
- Sophomore Daniel Cangelosi is fifth in the nation in points per game with 2.50 after recording five points on four goals and one assist in two games. He recorded his first career hat trick against the Mustangs and has scored four of the team's seven goals this season.
- Cangelosi leads the nation in goals per game with 2.00 and is tied for second with 1.50 power play goals per game. Three of his four goals scored were on the power play.
- Sophomores Chris Lutz and Andrew Breda have recorded three points each for the Cougars. Lutz has one goal and two assists while Breda has recorded a team-high three assists. Breda is tied for 11th in the nation with 1.5 assists per game. Breda is tied for seventh in the nation in points per game by a defenseman.
- Freshman Ricardo Gonzalez went the distance in goal against the Mustangs making 41 saves for a 4.91 GAA and a .891 save percentage. Sophomore Brian Baker made 32 saves on 38 shots against SUNY Fredonia for a 6.16 GAA and a .842 save percentage.
- Chatham has scored 3.5 goals per game while allowing 6.0 in two games this season. The Cougars are ninth in the nation with 21.0 penalty minutes per game.
- CU tops the nation with a 45.5 percentage on the power play scoring five goals in 11 opportunities. They are tied for ninth in combined special teams with a 58.3 percentage.
The Book On The Mustangs (2-0-0, 1-0-0 UCHC, 0-0-0 MAC):
- Stevenson won the Inaugural MAC Championship last year and went 9-3-4 in UCHC play before falling to Elmira 5-3 in the semifinals.
- The Mustangs won both meetings last year between the programs. SU won 4-1 in Pittston early in the season before defeating the Monarchs 3-1 in late January at the Reisterstown Sportsplex.
- Junior Dominic Brenza has recorded five assists this year and is ranked tied for fifth in the nation with 2.50 points per game. The forward is second in the nation with 2.50 assists per game.
- Sophomore Carl Lyden has scored three goals this season including the game-winner against Chatham. He has added one assist and ranks tied for 15th in points per game, tied for seventh in goals per game, and tied for seventh in power play goals per game with 1.00.
- Juniors Mark Bowen and Bruce Stachitas, sophomore Aaron Murray, along with freshmen Ryan Patrick, and Jarrod Vroman have added depth to the Mustang attack recording two points each.
- Freshman Riley McVeigh has picked up two wins in net while recording a 2.55 GAA and a .857 save percentage. Junior Dustyn Moyer has allowed three goals with 10 saves in 26:49 minutes of action.
- The Mustangs are tied for eighth in the nation in scoring with 4.50 goals per game. They have won both of their games by one goal.
- SU is eighth in the nation in penalty minutes per game with 21.5. They have struggled on the penalty kill allowing nine goals on 15 power play opportunities. However, they have been good on the power play scoring five goals in 19 opportunities which ranks them tied for 15th in the nation.
