West Coast Trip Finishes With 83-60 Loss At CMS Sunday

CLAREMONT, CA (December 30, 2018) -- The King's College women's basketball team finished its trip to the West Coast on Sunday, dropping a non-conference battle with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges 83-60 in action from Roberts Pavilion. 

The Athenas (9-2) jumped out quickly with 28 first-quarter points, and led for the entirety of the contest. CMS benefited from 26 second-chance points and 40 points in the paint, which each were helped by a 53-29 rebounding edge for the Athenas. 

King's was led offensively by the 14 points from Alexis Steeber, who shot 6-for-12 from the floor in 21 minutes of action. The senior from Berwick, PA has now paced the Monarchs in scoring the past three games. 

Junior Rebecca Prociak finished with 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds, adding three assists. Fellow junior Mackenzie Yori chalked up eight points in 27 minutes, also contributing five assists and three rebounds as well. 

Senior Lindsey Dippre scored seven points for King's, while junior Kayla Dillinger connected on a pair of three-pointers for six points. The Monarchs shot the the ball well in the second half, making 13-of-28 (46.4 percent), connecting on 39.3 percent (22-56) from the floor on the game. 

CMS had five players in double figures, as Maya Love chalked up 16 points in 15 minutes on 6-of-7 shooting. Corinne Bogle posted 13 points, and Kate Parrish finished with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds. Lindsey Cleary and Gloria Bates each added 10 points apiece for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, which has won five straight games now. 

King's will return home to the East Coast this week, battling Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA Thursday at 7 p.m. in non-conference action looking to snap a three-game losing skid.
