KING'S WOMEN'S HOCKEY FALLS TO UTICA, WILL WRAP UP INAUGURAL SEASON SATURDAY
UTICA, NY -- The host Utica College women's ice hockey team built a 3-0 first period lead and never looked back as the Pioneers posted a 8-0 victory over King's College in the first of a two-game series Friday night in Utica, NY.
With the win, Utica improved to 13-9-2 overall and 8-5-2 in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference. King's, meanwhile, slipped to 0-21-1 and 0-14-1.
Seven different players scored goals for Utica. Carlie Smith scored twice and added an assist to pace the Pioneeers. Danielle Haasbeek, Megan Power, Nicole Johnson, and Lexi Stanisewski had one goal and one assist Kelly Critzer dished out two assists.
King's starting goalie Kiva Sierra Stoltz made 26 saves and allowed six goals in 30 minutes of play while Emma Zeveney came on in relief and posted 15 stops while yielding two goals.
King's will close out its inaugural season of play Saturday when the Lady Monarchs wrap up their season series at Utica at 2:30 PM.
