KING'S SWIMMERS SWEEP WILKES

WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College swimming teams wrapped up the best combined season in program history with a sweep of cross-town rival Wilkes University Saturday at the Wyoming Valley CYC.
King's men posted a 130-68 victory while the women were winners by a 155-37. The men concluded the regular-season with a school-record 9-2 mark while the women stand at 7-4. The combined team records of 16-6 is also the best ever at King's.
Amanda Schwerdtman won the 1000-freestyle with a time of 11L24.13.Â
Shannon Dolan captured the 200-freestyle at 2:09.59 and the 500-freestyle with a 5:37.97.
Kirsten Siwy won the 50-freestyle with a 26.38 and the 100-butterfly at 1:03.61. Kaelyn Gardner won the 200-individual medley with a 2:25.03 and the 100-backstroke at 1:05.28. Melina Good captured the 100-freestyle at 59.24.
King's 200-freestyle relay team of Alyssa Gesek, Good, Siwy, and Mikayla Miller were winners with a time of 1:48.43. The Lady Monarchs' 200-medley relay team of Noelle Pedersen, Abbi Strennen, Lauren Pham, and Good were winners with a time of 2:01.58.
Chris Soutter captured the 1000-freestyle with a 10:33.23. Bryce Groshardt won the 50-freestyle at 22.71 and the 100-butterfly with a 55.65. Chris Michael touched first in the 200-individual medley with a time of 2:11.49 and in the 100-breaststroke at 1:04.20. Jason Yerger was victorious in the 100-backstroke at 58.50. Tyler Higgins won the 500-freestyle with a 5:06.43.
King's 200-freestyle relay team of Rhyce Hammaler, James Martin, Randil DeAsis, and Groshardt were winners with a time of 1:32.00. The Monarch team of Yerger, James Martin, Michael, and Dan Weeks finished first at 1:43.07.
King's will be idle until the MAC Championships February 15-18 at the Graham Aquatic Center in York
