KING'S WOMEN'S HOCKEY DOWNED BY CHATHAM
PITTSBURGH -- Kassandra Peterson scored twice to lift the Chatham University women's hockey team to a 4-0 victory over host King's College Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh.
With the win Chatham improved to 5-12-4 overall and 2-12 in United Collegiate Hockey Conference play. King's, meanwhile, slipped to 0-17-1 and 0-11-1.
Petersen opened the scoring 8:21 into the game before teammate Holly Ackerman struck net just 1:39 later to give Chatham a 2-0 lead after one period.
Kristina Block found the back of the net with 5:24 to play in the period before Petersen netted her second goal with 2:00 on the clock to score what amounted to the final goal of the game.
Chatham outshot King's 55-17 and won 35-of-50 faceoffs. King's goalie Emma Zeveney made 51 saves in net for the Lady Monarchs.
King's returns to the ice Saturday and Sunday with a home weekend doubleheader with William Smith College. The teams will play at Revolution Ice at 3:30 PM Saturday and again at 1:00 PM on Sunday.
