King's Basketball Doubleheader vs. Misericordia Postponed to Thursday

KING'S BASKETBALL DOUBLEHEADER VS. MISERICORDIA RESCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY
 
WILKES-BARRE -- The King's College women's and men's basketball MAC Freedom Conference doubleheader against local rival Misericordia University scheduled for tonight has been rescheduled to Thursday due to the snow storm in the region.

The women's game will tip off at 6:00 PM with the men to follow at 8:00 PM. 

Ticket prices for the day are $5 for adults, $2 for seniors, $2 for non-King's students showing I.D.  In addition, children under age-six shall be admitted free.  King's College students attend free with the presentation of their current student I.D.

King's women (13-8/8-2) are tied for first-place in a crowded Freedom Conference race with FDU-Florham (15-6/8-2) while Misericordia (7-3), Manhattanville (6-4) and DeSales (6-4) are all within striking distance. The Lady Monarchs come off a 58-44 home victory over Eastern on Saturday. Misericordia stands at 14-7 overall after picking up an important 68-61 win over fellow contender Manhattanville in a make-up game Monday night.

King's is looking for a much better performance than in the first meeting between the teams on January 17. The Cougars won 64-38 in a game where King's shot a season-worst 26.4 (14-53) percent from the floor. Since then, the Lady Monarchs have responded by winning five straight games.

Sophomore forward Rebecca Prociak tops King's with 13.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per-game. Junior forward Alexis Steeber adds 12.0 points and 5.4 rebounds Sophomore guard Mackenzie Yori follows with 11.9 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and a team-high 45 three-pointers while senior center Olivia Hoffman contributes 8.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and a team-high 75 blocked shots. King's averages 60.5 points while yielding 58.8 each contest.

The Cougars are led by junior guard Japriya Carroll tops the squad with 10.9 points and 4.4 rebounds with 24 three-pointers. Junior forward Rachel Carmody follows with 10.6 points and 7.4 rebounds. Sophomore center Paige Wampole adds 10.3 points and 8.8 rebounds while freshman forward Quintessa Zamolyi contributes 8.9 points and 5.1 rebounds with 22 three-pointers.

On the men's side, King's enters the game with a 10-11 overall record and are tied for fourth place in the Freedom Conference with a 6-4 mark with the top-four teams qualifying for the conference tournament. The Monarchs come off a thrilling come-from-behind 96-90 home win over Eastern on Saturday. Misericordia, meanwhile, is 12-9 and 7-3 in league competition following a 65-57 victory over Delaware Valley on Saturday.  Wilkes and DeSales share the conference lead with identical 8-2 marks and are followed by Misericordia (6-3), Eastern (6-4 and King's (6-4).

The Monarchs are led by senior guard Connor Callejas who is averaging 18.1 points with 2.0 assists and a team-high 60 three pointers. Senior forward Chris Fazzini follows with 12.5 points and 6.1 rebounds and needs just four 23 points to reach the 1,000-point plateau. Freshman guard Noah Tanner adds 9.0 points and 2.5 assists while sophomore guard Tyler Millan contributes 8.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.0 assists with 32 three-pointers. Sophomore guard Joshua Bailey chips in with 8.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 22 three-pointers. The Monarchs average 80.4 points while allowing 83.1 each contest.

Misericordia is led by junior guard Jason Kenney who averages 19.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists while making 32 three-pointers. Senior guard Tre Fields follows with 13.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 29 three-pointers. Sophomore forward Tony Harding adds 11.6 points, 5-3 rebounds, while hitting on 34 treys while sophomore forward Noah Rivera contributes 10.3 points and 7.3 rebounds.

King's teams will return to the court Saturday with a doubleheader DeSales University. The women play at 1:00 PM while the men follow at 3:00 PM.
