EIGHT MEN AND FOUR WOMEN EARN ACADEMIC HONORS FROM AHCA

GLOUCESTER, Mass. --- A total of 12 King's College ice hockey student-athletes were named 2017-18 Krampade AHCA All-American Scholars by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) on Thursday. The men's team had eight honorees while the women added four.

In order to be recognized as a Krampade AHCA All-American Scholar, an ice hockey student-athlete must have obtained at least a 3.6 grade-point average (GPA) each semester and participated in 40-percent of their school's games in 2017-18. There was a total of 821 Division II-III student-athletes to earn All-American Scholars on Thursday and 1,310 student-athletes in all divisions to be honored this year. That number is up from 1,261 a year ago in the first year the AHCA started naming All-American Scholars.

"We are extremely proud of this group of student-athletes who have competed at the highest levels of the game on the ice and matched that performance in the classroom," said AHCA executive director Joe Bertagna. "The sport demands a great deal from these athletes so it is a great statement they make, individually and collectively, with their ability to attain this level of academic achievement."

The eight men's student-athletes to receive the award are Cameron Anklewich, Isaac Cirinna, Link Ferch, Mitchell Foster, Nicholas Gullo, Orion Linnehan, Jack O'Neil, Nicholas Palumbo. All eight were previously named to the Middle Atlantic Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll and the United Collegiate Hockey Conference All-Academic Team while Palumbo was also named to the MAC Winter All-Academic Team.

The women's team had Josée Aitken, Mary Deyell, Kellie Munro, and Indra Wood named All-American Scholars. All four were also previously named to the MAC Winter Academic Honor Roll and UCHC All-Academic Team.
