Monarch Field Hockey Match Notes – Immaculata

WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 14, 2018)- The King's College field hockey team will be back in action following a tough loss at Scranton on Thursday night by hosting Immaculata University on Saturday at 5 p.m. in McCarthy Stadium.

Last Time Out: King's fell to a very strong Scranton team on the road, 6-1. Senior Kelsey Gabriele led the Monarchs with the lone goal on three shots. Sophomore Jolee Treslar added the assist on the Gabriele goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Brianne Maluda tallied eight saves in the cage.

  • Senior Kelsey Gabriele and sophomore Jolee Tresler both have five points on the season with two goals and one assist
  • Gabriele still leads the MAC Freedom with 23 shots on the season, averaging 4.60 shots per game
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Brianne Maluda is ranked fourth in the MAC Freedom saving 6.20 shots per game and has the third most saves with 31.
  • Senior Kelley O'Keefe and junior Maryrose Mauro are tied for third in the MAC Freedom in the game-winning goals category with one each.
  • The Monarch defense entered the week ranked 55th in the nation and 3rd in the MAC Freedom with a 0.25 shutout average
  • The Monarchs are 3-0 going all-time against the Mighty Macs picking up victories the past three years. King's has tallied a total of eleven goals in the series while allowing three.
The Book On The Mighty Macs (1-5):
  • Immaculata is currently on a five-match losing skid after winning their season open over Bryn Athyn College. They also played on Tuesday and Thursday this week dropping a 4-1 contest against Haverford and a 3-0 decision to Widener.
  • The Mighty Macs are led by junior Layne Kennedy who has tallied four goals on the season which is good for fifth in the newly formed Atlantic East Conference. She also boosts a 0.875 shots on goal percentage which is second in the AEC.
  • Immaculata has received one goal apiece from five different players while junior Colleen Bradley and freshman Macy Green lead the team and sit atop the AEC tallying two assists each.
  • Freshman Mackenze Sassaman has made three defensive saves this year which is the second most in the conference.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Randie Kuhar has seen 61 shots this season and has tallied 38 saves to result in a 0.704 save percentage and a 4.16 goals against average. Junior Jackie Victor has also seen time in cage recording a 3.72 GAA and a .579 save percentage.
  • Senior Brittany Richards leads the Macs with 17 shots including 10 on goal.
