Monarchs Topped By Lebanon Valley, 2-0

ANNVILLE, PA (September 19, 2018) -- Hosting Lebanon Valley College got a goal in each half, knocking off the King's College field hockey team 2-0 in non-conference action from Arnold Field. With the win, Lebanon Valley moves to 3-4, while the Monarchs are now an even 4-4 on the season.

Lebanon Valley came out quick and nearly scored in the fourth minute, but senior Taylor Runo made a defensive save on a Taylor Pentz shot to keep the game scoreless. King's had a chance in the eighth minute off a penalty corner, but a Maryrose Mauro attempt was saved by Dutchwoman keeper Victoria ByDeley.

The Monarchs had back-to-back solid opportunities in the 22nd minute, but shots from Bailey Jordan and Kelley O'Keefe were denied. Lebanon Valley used the momentum of the saves, opening the scoring in the 26th minute at 25:05 as Cecile Kat pushed a ball to Isabella Vulopas on a breakaway for the score.

After intermission, King's best chance of the game came in the 44th minute, as O'Keefe beat the Lebanon Valley keeper but her shot was swept away for a defensive save by Alida Steenkamer. The two teams would swap momentum with not much in terms of shots over the next ten minutes until Kat drove in from the left wing and finished a shot for her ninth goal of the season.
