WILKES-BARRE, PA (September 7, 2018) – The King's College field hockey team will be on the road for the third straight time to begin the season on Saturday when they travel to Selinsgrove to face the River Hawks of Susquehanna University at 1 p.m. in a non-conference matchup.

Last Time Out: King's struggled against a stout defensive performance by the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy University in a 3-0 loss against the 2017 NCAA Tournament qualifiers in their home opener on Wednesday. One highlight for the Monarchs was a career high nine saves in cage by
Brianne Maluda.
The Book On The Monarchs (0-2):
- The Monarchs start the season with two losses for the second consecutive year. Last year the Monarchs lost their first five matches against a strong schedule before rattling off five straight victories.
- Senior Kelsey Gabriele still leads the MAC Freedom with 14 shots and 7.00 per game despite not recording a shot on Wednesday.
- Freshman Jolee Treslar leads the Monarchs in scoring with one goal on five shots. Classmate Hannah Robbins leads the team in assists with one.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Brianne Maluda has faced 28 shots, allowed seven goals, and made 11 saves for a .611 save percentage in 125:49 minutes of action. Freshman Dervla Mcerlean saw 14 minutes of action on Wednesday and made two saves while facing four shots and did not allow a goal.
- King's is averaging 15.5 shots per game and is allowing 16.0. The Monarchs have taken 13 penalty corners while defending 22.
- King's is 6-15 all-time against Susquehanna including a 2-9 record in Selinsgrove. The River Hawks have won the past four meetings with the first three being one-goal games. Susquehanna defeated the Monarchs 4-2 at McCarthy Stadium last year.

- Susquehanna enters Saturday's match with a 1-2 record after falling 1-0 at Swarthmore on Wednesday in their first road match of the year. The River Hawks defeated Wilkes 3-1 at home to begin the year before dropping a 3-1 decision to fourth-ranked Franklin & Marshall last weekend.
- Junior Hunter Pitman leads the River Hawks with two goals on 22 shots. She is in a three-way tie for second in scoring in the Landmark Conference and has taken the most shots.
- Sophomore Maddie Taylor has scored one goal while junior Heather Casey and sophomore Gabby Martin have recorded an assist each.
- In cage juniors Veronica Green and Emily DiGaetano have split time with Green seeing the most action. Green is 1-1 on the year with a .636 save percentage allowing four goal, making seven saves, and facing 11 shots in 125:36 minutes of action in two starts. DiGaetano has appeared in two games and started against Swarthmore on Wednesday. She has made seven saves and allowed one goal while facing eight shots in 84:24 minutes for a .875 save percentage. She leads the Landmark in save percentage and is second with a goals against average of 0.83
- The River Hawks lead the nation in defensive saves with seven. Junior Ciara Middleton and senior Valorie Erickson have recorded two each which ranks them sixth in the nation and best in the conference.
- Susquehanna averages 13.0 shots per game while allowing 11.3. The River Hawks have taken 20 penalty corners and defended 22.
