DOYLESTOWN, PA (October 12, 2019) -- The King's College women's soccer team earned their first Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) victory of the season as they defeated Delaware Valley University, 2-0, on Saturday night. The Monarchs now improve to 6-6-1 overall and 1-1 in MAC Freedom action.
Each half saw the Monarchs put the ball in the back of the net in this conference matchup. The first goal came in the 39th minute as sophomore 
Kara Keim scored her second goal of the season off a rebound of her own shot to give the Monarchs the first half lead, 1-0, over the Aggies. Then in the second half, junior 
Emily Harrington connected for her sixth goal of the season on a breakaway in the 62nd minute to post the final tally, 2-0.
Senior 
Sophia Sacknievich also had a great opportunity that just missed in the 78th minute, but the Aggie goalie just got a hand on it in the bottom left corner of the net to prevent the late goal.
As a team, the Monarchs held the advantage in shots (8-6), shots on goal (6-4), and corners (1-0). Sophomore 
Tara Bender was excellent in goal again, posting her third shutout of the season, totaling four saves on six shots faced.
The Monarchs are back in action as they host DeSales University in MAC Freedom action on Tuesday at 7:00 pm in McCarthy Stadium. They also host conference newcomer Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday, October 19 starting at 5:00 pm.
