PITTSTON, PA (November 8, 2019) --- Junior Tommy Green deflected in his third collegiate goal on Friday night as the King's College men's ice hockey team dropped a 7-1 decision to Elmira College in the 2019-20 home opener from Revolution Ice Centre in Pittston.

The Soaring Eagles (1-1-1, 1-0-0 UCHC), who were predicted to finish second in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference Preseason Poll, came out strong scoring the game's first goal 21 seconds in as Connor Powell found the back of the net for the first time this year. Elmira took advantage of the first penalty of the game as Anthony Parrucci tallied his first goal of the season at 3:31 with the Monarchs (-2-0, 0-2-0 UCHC) 38 seconds away from killing off the power play opportunity. The visitors took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission after Patrick Schmelzinger scored with 2:52 left in the period.

The second period was full of penalties by both teams with 10 of the game's 18 penalties called in the second 20 minutes. Each team took advantage of having an advantage on the ice as all three goals scored in the period were power play goals. Elmira scored the first goal of the period playing two men up after a pair of Monarch penalties a minute apart from each other. Matthew Cuce scored his second goal of the season 35 seconds into the two-man advantage. King's got on the board at the 14:26 mark as Green deflected in a shot from Jack O'Neil. Connor Lavin also got an assist on the play after a cross ice pass to O'Neil. O'Neil blasted the puck from just inside the blue line towards the goal where Green redirected it into the back of the net. The assist for Lavin was the first of his career while O'Neil recorded the fifth assist of his career. The Soaring Eagles added another goal with 1:05 left in the period as Spencer MacLean gave the visitors a 5-1 lead into the second intermission. Alex Gagnon and Parrucci scored in the final 20 minutes for the Eagles to set the final score.
