ANNVILLE, PA (March 19, 2019) -- Lebanon Valley's Veronica Venizia recorded two goals and a school-record 10 assists Tuesday evening, helping the Dutchmen to a 16-4 win over the King's College women's lacrosse team in play from Arnold Field on the campus of LVC.
Lebanon Valley (3-5) scored the first four goals of the game, as Emily Federowicz tallied at the 20:22 make on a helper from Venezia to take the 4-0 lead. King's (2-5) won the next draw control and would get on the board, as freshman
Emily Sims batted in a loose ball right in front to make it 4-1 with 19:41 to play.
The Dutchmen answered with four more goals before Sims posted her second of the night at 2:43 to make it 9-2. LVC would pot three more goals just before halftime to take a 12-2 edge going into the intermission.
Freshman
Natasha Koslop scored her ninth goal of the season after a turnover at the 13:49 mark of the second half, and
Emma Lehman tallied her eighth of the season but it wasn't enough as Lebanon Valley locked up the home victory.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Orla Cottell made eight saves on the night, adding a team-leading five ground balls, and Sims paced the Monarchs with a team-leading seven shots. Sims also posted two of the seven Monarch draw controls, and junior defender
Kelly Pierce finished with three draw controls and a caused turnover.
Freshman
Jen O'Connor didn't get on the scoresheet Tuesday, but still added a caused turnover and two draw controls. Junior
Mia Dardanelli also finished with a forced turnover and two ground balls for the Monarchs, who were outshot 28-16 on the evening.
Along with Venezia's output for LVC, Federowicz posted three goals while Makenzie Kelley added two goals and two assists. Julia Gabriel also posted two goals and an assist for the Dutchmen, and Hannah Oliveras chalked up eight saves in the win.
King's will look to shake of the loss Saturday afternoon at Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA at 3:30 p.m. in further non-conference play.
