LEXINGTON, VA (January 4, 2020) -- Sophomore
Kade Kravits continued his strong wrestling of late, as the sophomore middleweight turned in a third-place performance at the Jim Crytzer Invitational, hosted by Washington & Lee University in Lexington, VA.
Kravits dropped his first match by sudden victory in extra time 4-2 to Shane Conners of Washington & Lee, the eventual runner-up in the weight class. After moving into the consolation round, Kravits began his way through it with a quick pin of Isaiah Deck of Averett University at 1:44 of the match.
In the next round, Kravits had no problems with Wyatt Bingamann of Messiah College, winning by pin at 2:36 to advance to a matchup with Isaac Hudson of Ferrum College. In that match, Kravits earned three takedowns along with an escape, penalty point and riding time to take a 9-0 major decision victory.
In the consolation semifinals, Kravits took on Galilee Kissell of Ferrum, pulling out a 7-2 decision victory to advance to the finals of the consolation ladder. Taking on Morgan Peterson of Southern Virginia University, Kravits trailed 3-2 after the first period despite a nice reversal with 22 seconds to go in the period.
After choosing bottom to start the second, Kravits posted another reversal for two points to take a 4-3 edge moving to the third period. In the final period, Kravits earned a takedown which helped seal the win and the third place finish for the sophomore of King's.
Freshman
Robert Zelinski dropped a pair of matches at 141, wrestling well though in his second match of the day in a narrow defeat to Hayden Funck of Ferrum.
Freshman
Colby Spencer earned a major decision victory over Jared Worley of Ferrum 14-3, while
Billy Grace also picked up a victory over Gabriel Guess of Mount Olive at 184 for King's.
The Monarchs will be back on the road for a dual match with Muhlenberg College Saturday, January 11 in Allentown, PA.
