Emily Harrington and
Sarah Ross both had good performances for the King's College women's indoor track and field team on Friday as they competed at the Winter Classic at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.
400 Meters
Sarah Ross ran her third fastest time as she crossed the line in 1:03.34 in the 10th of 15 heats. The junior was not far off her school record time of 1:03.03 in a heat won by TCNJ freshman Valandra Riggins with a time of 1:00.73. 19 runners broke one minute in the meet with Grace Claxton running the best time of the day at 53.94 seconds in the first heat. The top four times were run in the first heat with Stony Brook junior Amanda Stead running the top collegiate time at 54.15 seconds. Delaware sophomore Halima Scott was third in 55.23 seconds.
60 Meter Hurdles
Running in her hometown,
Emily Harrington finished with a time of 9.68 seconds in the fifth of six heats. The junior finished fifth in her heat that was won by Rowan junior Nicole Notaranni in 9.49 seconds. Monroe College freshman Phoebe Myers had the best time in the field running 9.20 seconds (9.192) to win the second heat. McGill freshman Allison Frantz was right behind her with a time of 9.20 seconds (9.198). Rider junior Dyani Bigelow was third in 9.28 seconds.
