Monarchs Tripped Up at Home by DeSales

WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 12, 2021) --- The King's College women's soccer team was defeated 5-1 by DeSales University on Tuesday evening at McCarthy Stadium.

The Monarchs (2-6-1) created an early chance in the fourth minute that led to a shot from Leah Sankey which was saved at the right post by the DeSales goalkeeper, Hannah Pacheco. Kara Keim tried her luck from long-range just three minutes later, but missed her shot wide right.

The Bulldogs (10-3-0) got on the board in the ninth minute when Allie Trick was played a through ball towards goal and beat out King's goalkeeper Tara Bender to give her squad an early lead. DSU scored again in the 27th minute and the 44th minute to take a 3-0 lead into the break.

DeSales scored two quick goals to start the second half, and increased their lead to 5-0. The Monarchs were able to find the back of the net in the 72nd minute when Chloe Weaver scored her first career goal off an assist from Angelina Falcone

Weaver led the KC offense with two shots, both on goal. Keim and Sankey each added a shot for the Monarchs, while Bender contributed five saves.

King's will look to bounce back on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Delaware Valley. The MAC Freedom matchup is set to kickoff at 1 pm in Doylestown, PA.
