Tedik Scores Penalty Stroke Goal At Misericordia

DALLAS, PA (October 23, 2021) – Ali Tedik scored her first career goal on a penalty stroke for the King's College field hockey team in a 4-1 defeat at regionally-ranked Misericordia University on Saturday in Dallas.

The Cougars (11-5, 5-1 MAC Freedom) are one of six teams ranked in this week's first NCAA Regional Rankings and entered the game looking to keep pace near the top of the conference standings.

King's defense was tested early by the hosts as Misericordia earned a penalty corner near the end of the first minute. The Monarchs blocked a shot by Mikayla Cavenas off the corner attempt and then proceeded to block the next two shots MU took in the game. Ellie Glatz made a pair of saves on shots by Anna Effinger and another save on a shot by Allie Bianco. Bianco gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead at the 12-minute mark.

Misericordia increased their lead to 2-0 in the 19th minute off a penalty corner. Bianco inserted the ball to Morgan Walsh who stick stopped the ball for Effinger who scored. Bianco then scored her second goal of the game in the 23rd minute off an assist by Cabenas during a penalty corner attempt. The Cougars made it 4-0 at halftime as Olivia Kempf scored in the 26th minute.

King's cut into the lead in the 39th minute when they were awarded a penalty stroke following a penalty corner. Tedik took the penalty stroke and put it into the back of the cage for her first career goal. The Monarch offense kept the pressure on the Cougar defense into the fourth quarter but shots by Tedik and Lexi Prowker were blocked.

Misericordia had a 15-4 shot advantage in the game and 12-3 advantage in penalty corners.

The Monarchs will wrap up the 2021 on Wednesday with a trip down to DeSales University. Start time is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Center Valley.
