WILKES-BARRE, PA (November 6, 2021) --- The 2021-22 campaign for the King's College wrestling team got underway on Saturday, as the Monarchs hosted the Ned McGinley Invitational in McGrane Gymnasium and the Scandlon Athletics and Recreation Center.
Kade Kravits started his senior season with two straight pins, followed by an exhilirating 7-6 decision win over George Moseley of Averett. He made it all the way to the semifinals before falling to Jason Geyer of NYU by 5-0 decision. Kravits then dropped the consolation final to Ben Dougherty of RIT.
It was an impressive debut from freshman
Nick Germano, who won five straight bouts after losing the first at 133. Germano fell in the consolation semifinals to Joseph Jones of Averett.
Gus Petruske IV won his first two bouts for KC, before dropping his final bout to Dalton Rohrbaugh of York by fall.
Junior
Robert Zelinski showed well for the Monarchs, finishing 3-2 on the day. In his opening bout, Zelinski earned a pin on Mike Colon of Cortland.
Jason Sine performed strong in his debut for KC, going 3-2 on the day, including two pins.
Freshman
Noah Clawson had a solid opening to his career as a Monarch, going 2-2 on the day. He started the day with a thrilling 6-2 decision win over Bryce Vollman of Delaware Valley.
At 165, sophomore Matt Still earned his first win for King's with a pin, while going 1-2 on the day.
Freshman
Darevin Curlee started his Monarch career with a pin against William Wilson of Waynesburg. Curlee finished 1-2 on the day at 125.
Sophomore
Cameron Leslie was 1-2 on the day with an exciting 3-2 decision win.
The Monarchs finished 11th as a team and earned 39.5 points.
The squad will return to action next Saturday when they head to Binghamton, NY for the Binghamton Open.
