WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 17, 2021) -- The King's College men's tennis squad hosted visiting DeSales University Saturday morning on a chilly and rainy day at Kirby Park, but visiting DeSales would take all three doubles matches while earning four singles points before rain put a halt to the match in a 7-0 win in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play.
The best match of the day was played at No. 1 doubles, as
Logan Gregory and
Jason Homschek were neck-and-neck with Thomas Blomquist and Danny Lynn. The match would go to a tiebreaker, where the DSU pairing would control action with a 7-3 breaker victory to earn the doubles point.
Junior
Nick Harth and partner
Austin Mackey fell 8-1 at No. 2 doubles for King's, while Nolan Beck and Brahm Buoy picked up a 8-0 win for the Bulldogs (5-0, 3-0 MAC Freedom) to secure the doubles sweep for DSU.
In singles play, Mackey dropped a 6-3, 6-0 decision at No. 1 singles to Lynn and Gregory was topped 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot. Harth fell 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 3 position, while
Sam Cadman was topped 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 singles. No. 4 and No. 5 singles were unfinished, as rain washed away the matches before they could finish.
Kings (2-3, 1-2 MAC Freedom) will travel to Arcadia University on Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. to take on the Knights in MAC Freedom play.
