GLENSIDE, PA (April 20, 2021) -- The King's College men's tennis team dominated the bottom parts of both single and doubles Tuesday afternoon at Arcadia University, rolling to a 7-2 win in Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) play from Arcadia's Weiss Courts.
King's evened its record at 3-3 overall on the season and 2-2 in the MAC Freedom, while Arcadia fell to 0-6 and 0-4 in league action. Arcadia would start the day with a win at No. 1 singles though, as Jonathan Noble and Josh Noble bested senior
Jason Homschek and sophomore
Logan Gregory 8-4.
The Monarchs would turn around things at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, led by senior
Austin Mackey and junior
Nick Harth at the No. 2 slot. The pairing would cruise to an 8-3 victory over Francis Tamesis and Luke Thatcher to make it 1-1. Sophomore
Sam Cadman would team with first-year
Joe Lennon to take down Logan Davies and Tim Zeng 8-5 to give King's the edge going to singles' play.
In the individual matches, the Monarchs once again would lean on its depth down the ladder to pull away for the victory. Jonathan Noble would earn the victory for the Knights at No. 1 6-1, 6-2, but Gregory came through with his first win of the day at No. 2 singles after posting a 6-2, 6-2 scoreline.
Harth registered his second win of the day, one of three double-winners on the afternoon, as he moved to 3-3 in singles play this season with a 6-1, 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot. Homschek rebounded from his doubles' loss to earn a 6-1, 6-2 straight set win at No. 4, upping his season record to 3-2 overall and 2-2 at No. 4 singles.
Lennon posted his third win of the season and third straight-set win on the year, as he chalked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the No. 5 spot. Cadman would equal Lennon with his second triumph of the day, as he also posted a win with a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Zeng at No. 6 singles.
The Monarchs will now look to get over .500 for the season Saturday at noon, hosting the Warriors of Lycoming College in play from Kirby Park.
