ANNVILLE, PA (September 18, 2021) --- The Lebanon Valley women's soccer team scored twice in the first half and added two more in the second half to post a 4-0 win over the King's women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon.
The Dutchmen put King's under pressure early in the contest as Madison Carper sent a shot on goal just 53 seconds into the match which forced a quick save from Monarch goalkeeper
Tara Bender. Lebanon Valley continued their attack and fired off three more shots in the next four minutes. Bender did well to keep all three shots out of the net. King's created their first offensive opportunity of the game in ninth minute when
Breanna Jacinto ripped a shot on frame that got saved by Lebanon Valley goalkeeper Jocelyn Umana.
The Dutchmen unleashed many shots during the remainder of the first half, but the Monarch defense held strong until the 37th minute when they conceded the first goal of the match. Lebanon Valley's Maddy Hartman scored off an assist by Kaitlyn Brumbaugh. Less than two minutes later LVC added to their lead off a goal by Tylee Stauffer. The Dutchmen would carry this 2-0 lead into the second half.
Lebanon Valley tallied their third goal of the contest at the 50:17 mark when Carper scored off an assist by Emma Houck. King's continued to battle hard in the second half and nearly found the back of the net in the 63rd minute when
Kristina Keithley launched a shot that unfortunately got saved by Umana.
LVC continue to press the action and eventually netted their fourth score in the 71st minute off a goal from Alyssa Yoder. Jacinto,
Angelina Falcone,
Leah Sankey,
Mikaela Majcher, and
Kristina Keithley each posted a shot on goal for the Monarchs. Bender added nine saves for KC.
Lebanon Valley held a 21-7 shot advantage in the match and took seven corner kicks compared to 3 for King's.
The Monarch's will look to bounce back on Monday evening when they face SUNY Oswego in their home-opener. Kickoff is slated for 7 pm at McCarthy Stadium.
