PITTSTON, PA (January 28, 2022) – First year forward Emma Clark scored her first career goal to lead the King's College women's ice hockey team in a tough 3-1 loss to Anna Maria College on Friday evening at the Revolution Ice Centre.

The Monarchs took the lead 3:11 into the first period as Clark knocked home a rebound off a saved shot from Jordan Dittmar. Erin King also assisted on the play which was her fourth of the year and ninth of her career. The assist for Dittmar was the first of her career and third point of the year. Clark tallied her second point of the season. The Monarchs kept the pressure on the Amcats the rest of the period and outshot the visitors 12-11 heading into the first intermission. Ani Quindipan led the squad with three shots in the period while Kait Wolf took two.

Anna Maria evened things up 47 seconds into the second period as Jordyn Bleaney snuck a shot into the upper left corner for her fourth goal of the season. The rest of the period was a defensive battle as King's managed to outshoot the Amcats 10-7 in the second period with Emma Dos Santos leading the way with three shots. In the third period Anna Maria took the lead at 9:11 as Bleaney knocked in a rebound off a saved shot from Riley Cote. The Monarchs fought hard all the way through for the game-tying goal but came up short as Cote netted an empty-net goal with eight seconds left to set the final score. Anna Maria outshot the Monarchs 13-8 in the final period to finish with a slight 31-30 advantage for the game.

Becca Allen and King both took three shots for the Monarchs while Dianna Duncan, Wolf, Quindipan, Dos Santos, and Clark had three apiece. Dittmar was 11-for-21 on faceoffs while Josee Aitken and Emma Knoll each won seven on 11 attempts. Hannah Bowers had another excellent game in goal for the Monarchs making 28 saves. The senior stopped 11 shots in the first and third periods and six in the second.

The Monarchs and Amcats will finish their non-conference season series tomorrow afternoon back at the Revolution Ice Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 pm.
