WILKES BARRE, PA (January 29, 2022) --- The King's College men's swimming team came out on top in a dominant 124-58 win over Wilkes University on Saturday afternoon at the Scandlon Pool.
The Monarchs got things going early with a controlling 200 medley relay win from the squad of
Austin Morris,
Kyle Altman,
Joel Williams, and
Alex Schwartz.
In the 1000 free,
Jared Stephan swam his way to a comfortable victory, beating Liam White of Wilkes by well over a minute.
Anthony Ursini made his mark in the 200 freestyle where he earned a first place finish for King's while clocking an impressive time of 1:56.64.
King's was superior in the 50 free, earning the top three finishes of the day from Altman, Morris, and Schwartz respectively with times of 23.08, 23.53, and 24.19.
Stephan came out on top again in the 100 butterfly when he went 59.28 for the Monarchs, beating out the second place finisher by just under five seconds.
Andrew Pursel then notched a first place finish of his own in the 100 free, clocking in at 51.12.
David Rinehimer competed by himself in the 100 backstroke, and booked a time of 1:03.53. Ursini then earned his second win of the day, this time in the 500 free with a swim of 5:22.72.
Erik Aguero finished right behind Ursini at 5:23.27 to claim second.
To finish out the day, the Monarchs secured the win in the 200 free relay, as the team of Rinehimer, Pursel, Stephan, and Williams clocked in at 1:35.84.
The squad will now set its sights toward the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships which begin on Thursday, February 10 at 10:00 AM.
