Glatz Posts Season-High in Loss to Arcadia

WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 12, 2022) -- After a lengthy break from their home turf, the King's College field hockey team returned to McCarthy Stadium as they hosted Arcadia University in the MAC Freedom match up. On Wednesday afternoon, the Monarchs fell, 4-0, to the Knights in the conference bout. With the loss, the Monarchs fall to 5-8 with a 2-2 conference mark, while the Knights improve to 8-5 and 3-1 in the MAC Freedom.

Arcadia (8-5, 3-1 MAC Freedom) struck first as they tallied the first goal of the game at the 3:26 mark as Morganne Dee scored on a rebounded save from Glatz. The Knights added to their lead in the 15th minute as Regan Sammons added her mark to put Arcadia ahead, 2-0. The pace of the game slowed in the remainder of the half before heading into the break down two scores.

The visitors capitalized on two more opportunities in the third despite some valiant efforts and great defensive plays by King's (5-8, 2-2 MAC Freedom) as Dee posted her second goal in the 41st minute and Ashlynn Barton tacked on the final goal in the 43rd minute as the Monarchs trailed, 4-0.

It was an evenly contested match up in the final 15 minutes, but the Monarchs could not find the goal as they dropped the MAC Freedom matchup, 4-0, on Wednesday evening in their first game back in McCarthy Stadium since September 22.

First year Kellyn Maher earned a defensive save in the loss, while junior goalkeeper Ellie Glatz was strong in goal with a season-best 14 goals.

Dee led the Knights with two goals on three shots, all on goal, while Morgan McEntire and Regan Sammons posted a team-best six shots each. Goalkeeper Gracie Fenner earned the win in the complete-game effort for Arcadia.

The Monarchs will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they travel to Doylestown, PA for a contest with Delaware Valley University. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in the MAC Freedom game.
