DOYLESTOWN, PA (October 15, 2022) – The King's College field hockey team struck first and never looked back as they snapped a four-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over Delaware Valley University in the MAC Freedom contest. With the win in the Saturday afternoon matchup in Doylestown, the Monarchs improve to 6-8 overall and 3-2 in the MAC Freedom, while the Aggies drop to 6-8 with a 2-3 conference mark.
King's (6-8, 3-2 MAC Freedom) controlled the opening quarter, recording the first two shots of the game. On their second penalty corner opportunity,

Sara Whitesell for a hard shot on the far side that found the back of the cage to put the Monarchs up, 1-0, in the ninth minute. Delaware Valley (6-8, 2-3 MAC Freedom) found some momentum in the final 5:29 of the period, but the Monarchs defense held them at bay to maintain their 1-0 lead after the first 15 minutes of action.
The second quarter saw each team make respective runs, but neither team converted as the Monarchs went into the halftime break with their one tally advantage.
The Monarchs came out of the stoppage with an onslaught of shots, firing off four shots over the first 6:51 of the half before capitalizing on another penalty corner. Wolfe inserted again and found
Hannah Robbins for a low shot from the top of the arc to put King's ahead, 2-0, in the 40
th minute. King's maintained much of the possession down the stretch of the quarter as they went into the final stanza with their 2-0 lead over the Aggies.
After controlling the start of the period, the Delaware Valley offense looked to put a tally on the scoreboard as they posted four shots on three penalty corners in the final 33 seconds of play, but the Monarchs defense delivered to maintain the shutout and the 2-0 win in the MAC Freedom match up.
Robbins and Whitesell each led the offense with two points on a goal each, while Robbins led the team with five shots, including two on target. Tedik picked up a point with her assist on Whitesell's goal, while
Hannah Chocallo totaled three shots in the win.
Ellie Glatz was solid in the cage again, posting her fourth shutout of the season with 10 saves.
TJ Smith led the Aggies with five shots, including three on goal, while both Kaylee Hartung and Ashley Birmingham posted three shots each. Goalkeeper Alyssa Rudd recorded three saves while giving up two goals in the loss.
As a team, the Monarchs were edged out in shots (15-14) but posted more saves (10-3) with their nine penalty corners in the game.
King's will continue its road stretch as they travel to FDU-Florham on Wednesday afternoon for the conference bout. Game time in Madison, NJ is set for a 4:00 p.m. start for the MAC Freedom matchup.
