Clark Scores in Loss at FDU-Florham

MADISON, NJ (October 19, 2022) -- A goal by junior Emma Clark netted the contest at one a piece in the 11th minute, but the host FDU-Florham posted four unanswered goals to earn the 5-1 win in the MAC Freedom contest on Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the King's College field hockey team drops to 6-9 overall and 3-3 in the MAC Freedom, while the Devils improve to 8-7 with a 4-3 conference mark.

FDU-Florham (8-7, 4-3 MAC Freedom) tallied the first goal of the game in the eighth minute as Haleigh Flukey found the back of the cage to put the Devils up, 1-0. It took just under three minutes for Clark to get a feed from senior Jessie Smalley and post the equalizer at the 11:45 mark of the opening period. The Devils put one more score on the board in the with 1:57 to go in the quarter to go ahead 2-1 after a thrilling opening period.

King's (6-9, 3-3 MAC Freedom) maintained much of the possession and momentum early as they earned four penalty corners and fired off four shots before the Devils saw their first solid chance of the quarter and tacked on another goal in the 23rd minute as Liz Briles scored her second goal of the game. The play slowed and remained in the midfield for much of the remainder of the half as the Monarchs trailed, 3-1, at the break.

The second half went to the Devils as they found the back of the cage off a penalty corner in the 38th minute, while Haleigh Flukey posted her second goal of the game in the 52nd minute before the hosts recorded the 5-1 win over the Monarchs despite a gritty second-half effort from King's.

Clark led the offensive efforts with three shots, all on target, and a goal, while Smalley tallied two shots and an assist. In the goal, junior Ellie Glatz recorded five saves.

The Devils were led by Liz Briles with three goals on four shots, all on target, while Haleigh Flukey recorded two goals and Allie serio had two assists. Goalkeeper Emily Prachthauser matched Glatz's efforts with five saves in the win.

King's was tied at the half in shots, 6-6, with the Devils, while totaling six penalty corners in the matchup.

The Monarchs return home to McCarthy Stadium this upcoming Saturday, October 22 as they host Misericordia University in MAC Freedom play. King's will be celebrating Mental Health Awareness Weekend as they prepare for the 5:00 p.m. start in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
