WILKES-BARRE, PA (October 22, 2022) -- It took 49 minutes to break a scoring stalemate in the MAC Freedom matchup, but it was the visiting Misericordia University Cougars who put the first tally on the board in the 49
th minute as the King's College field hockey team fell, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon. The Monarchs fall to 6-10 overall and 3-4 in the MAC Freedom standings, while the Cougars improve to 6-9 with a 3-4 MAC Freedom record.

It was a game that saw each team trade possessions and chances, as Misericordia (6-9, 3-4 MAC Freedom) held the advantage in the opening period, outshooting the Monarchs 6-4 and a 7-1 advantage in penalty corners. The second period went to King's (6-10, 3-4 MAC Freedom) as they posted a 7-4 edge in shots and a 6-3 lead in penalty corners. Despite the efforts, the teams went into the halftime break in a scoreless tie in the MAC Freedom match up.

A closely contested third quarter saw King's fire off seven shots to Misericordia's five, but neither team could convert as the first 45 minutes of the game remained scoreless heading into the final quarter.

Off a penalty corner, the Cougars found their stride firing off two shots that were both saved by
Ellie Glatz before Meghan Radnoff found her opening to break the stalemate and put Misericordia ahead, 1-0, in the 49
th minute. It did not take long for the Cougars to tack on the insurance goal as Lily Metress posted a goal in the 50
th minute.

Despite a valiant effort by the Monarchs down the stretch, firing off three shots and earning one penalty corner, the King's efforts fell short as they dropped the MAC Freedom contest, 2-0, to Misericordia on Saturday afternoon.

Ali Tedik led the offensive efforts with five shots, including three on target, while
Ashley Thalassinos,
Hannah Robbins, and
Taylor Giugliano all added three shots in the contest.
Ellie Glatz recorded an impressive 13 shots in the loss.

Lily Metress posted her goal on seven shots, with five on goal, while Radnoff recorded four shots with her goal. Goalkeeper Sarah Bogina totaled eight saves in the complete-game effort.

King's was just slightly edged in shots, as the Cougars totaled 22 to the Monarchs' 21.

The Monarchs will wrap up their 2022 regular season next Wednesday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m. King's is set to host Stevens Institute of Technology in the MAC Freedom finale.
