CENTER VALLEY, PA (October 7, 2022) -- In their first game in eight days, the King's College field hockey team allowed a goal in each quarter as the Monarchs fell, 4-0, at DeSales University on Friday night in the MAC Freedom match up. The Monarchs now drop to 5-7 overall and 2-1 in the MAC Freedom as this was just their first conference loss, while the Bulldogs improve to 9-2 with a 4-0 conference mark.
DeSales (9-2, 4-0 MAC Freedom) posted the first two shots of the game off a pair of penalty corners before King's (5-7, 2-1 MAC Freedom) saw their first opportunity in the fifth minute. Off an penalty corner insert by

Jessie Smalley fired off a strong shot that was saved by the Bulldogs goalie. DeSales then maintained control before putting a tally on the board behind a Tyra Wingle goal at the 9:06 mark to head into the second period leading King's, 1-0.
A quick Bulldogs goal 4:28 into the period saw the Monarchs trailing, 2-0, but neither team could find a rhythm for the remainder of the period as King's went into the halftime break down 2-0.
DeSales would find the net twice in the second half, first in the 34th minute and then again in the 57th minute as the Bulldogs handed the Monarchs their first MAC Freedom loss, 4-0, on the road on Friday night.
Hannah Chocallo led the King's offense with two shots, while
Hannah Robbins,
Emma Clark, and
Jessie Smalley each posted one shot. Junior
Ellie Glatz made eight saves in the cage in the loss.
DeSales saw Tyra Wingle post five points on two goals and an assist off four shots, while Jordyne Strong netted a goal off a team-high five shots. Goalkeeper Kayla Yeatman recorded two saves in the win.
The Monarchs will return home to McCarthy Stadium after a four-game road stretch as they host Arcadia University in MAC Freedom play on Wednesday afternoon. The conference contest is set for a 4:00 p.m. start in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
