Two Late Goals Downs Men's Hockey 3-2 at Neumann

ASTON, PA (November 12, 2022) --- The King's College men's ice hockey team led late into the third period before two goals from Neumann University took down the Monarchs 3-2 on Wednesday in Aston, PA. With the loss, King's falls to 2-4-0 overall and 2-3-0 in UCHC play, while the Knights improve to 2-4-0 overall and 1-3-0 in conference.
 
King's (2-4-0, 2-3-0) opened the scoring again as sophomore Alexander Ray found the net on the power play just under eight minutes into the contest. Ray took a pass from first-year Samuel Libetti, burying the shot to put King's up 1-0 at 7:55. After the opening goal, Neumann (2-4-0, 1-3-0) and King's traded chances for the remainder of the period, but King's took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
 
King's scored early on the power play again in the second period as first-year Wyatt Allan scored his first-career goal to put King's up 2-0 at 4:02. Neumann did not go away quietly however, as the Knights cut into the Monarch lead just over four minutes later, as Tyler Kulas scored on the power play at 8:36 to make the score 2-1. Neither team scored again as King's took a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes.
 
Down two goals with just over five minutes to play, Neumann got two quick goals from Luke Croucher and Nate Dunning to put the Knights up 3-2 at 15:08. King's pushed for an equalizer, but the effort came up short, as Neumann took the contest 3-2.
 
Senior Ismael Ralsten continued his play in net, making 30 saves on 33 shots, picking up the loss. Libetti led the King's offense collecting two assists, while Allan and Ray both tallied a goal. Sophomore Jack Cooper tallied five shots on goal, while sophomore Kent Lee added four. King's won 34 of 60 face-offs, led by sophomore Tyler Blanchard who won 12 of 16. King's continued their strong special teams play to start the season, going 2-5 on the power play and 3-4 on the penalty kill.
 
Logan Gorbitz made 28 saves on 30 shots, picking up the win for Neumann in goal. Offensively, the Knights were led by Kulas who tallied two points on a goal and assist, while adding four shots on goal. Neumann won 26 of 60 face-offs and went 1-4 on the power play and 3-5 on the penalty kill.
 
King's returns home for one game next weekend, as the Monarchs host Albertus Magnus at 7 p.m. at Revolution Ice Centre.
