Sims Records 100th Career Draw Control in Season Opening Loss to Gwynedd Mercy

WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 16, 2022) --- Senior Emily Sims recorded her 100th career draw control on Wednesday night as the Monarchs fell in their season opener to Gwynedd Mercy 15-4.

Sims scored the game's first goal just over three minutes into the first quarter off a nice feed from Chloe Burke. The senior midfielder diced through the Griffins defense and placed her shot past the goalkeeper with ease. Gwynedd Mercy scored the next eight goals, taking an 8-1 lead going into halftime.

Following a pair of early second half goals from the Griffins, the Monarchs sparked an attack which resulted in Kyleigh Dunworth's first career goal. Dunworth found herself at the top of the crease and ripped a shot into the right side of the net leaving the goalkeeper no chance.

Natasha Koslop got on the board for KC early in the fourth quarter off a free position attempt. The senior attack put some finesse on her shot to beat out the keeper and find the back of the net. Sims scored the final goal of the game for King's late in the fourth quarter.

Jessie Smalley started the first half for the Monarchs and made nine saves before getting relieved by Sidney Bush in the second half. Bush finished with five saves on the day.

KC will return to action this Saturday when they host Susquehanna University at 1:00 pm.
