Newcomers Score in Monarch Loss to Marywood

WILKES-BARRE, PA (February 24, 2022) --- First year Monarchs Kyleigh Dunworth and Carli Komorowski each scored a goal for King's College women's lacrosse on Thursday night, but Marywood University came out on top in a 9-4 final at McCarthy Stadium.

The Monarchs started off the night on a high note, as Natasha Koslop scored the first goal of the game less than a minute in to give KC an early 1-0 lead. The goal marked Koslop's second of the season and 22nd of her career. Marywood responded strong with four consecutive goals and took a 4-1 lead into halftime.

Dunworth cut the Pacer lead to two early in the third period when she scored her second goal of the season for the red and gold. Dunworth used her quickness to beat the Marywood defense before finding the back of the net for KC. After three straight goals for Marywood, Emily Sims added to the tally for the Monarchs, notching her third goal of the season.

Komorowski finished off the night with her first career goal at King's in the final four minutes of play, as she faked out the keeper for the easy score. Sims picked up the assist on the goal, her first of the season.

Sidney Bush started the game in net for the Monarchs and made eight saves before being relieved by Jessie Smalley at the start of the second half. Smalley recorded six saves in her 30 minutes of action for KC.

King's will now enter a week and a half break before heading to Marymount University on March 7 at 2 pm.
