ARLINGTON, VA (March 7, 2022) — Four first-year Monarchs found the back of the net on Monday afternoon, including two from
Carli Komorowski in a 22-5 loss to Marymount University.
The Saints controlled the early parts of the game, taking a 12-0 lead into the two-minute break following the first period. Komorowski would get the Monarchs on the board in the middle of the second period when she was awarded a free-position and took advantage of the opportunity. The Aston, PA native charged at the goal and faked out the Marymount goalkeeper with a crafty lob over top and into the back of the net. Shortly after, Komorowski recorded her second goal of the game as she juked past the MU defense and ripped a shot past the goalie.
In her Monarch debut in a lacrosse uniform,
Alli Lindsay made her mark in the second half by scoring her first career goal.
Olivia Benner set up the goal with a nice feed inside to Lindsay who flicked the ball behind her head and into the back of the net. Lindsay then set up
Grace Venis to score the first goal of her career as a Monarch. Lindsay drove past her defender before finding Venis in the middle where she ripped her shot into the goal leaving the Marymount goalkeeper no chance.
Kyleigh Dunworth wrapped up the scoring on the day for King's in the 4th period when she dodged past several Marymount defenders and placed her shot perfectly into the top corner of the net for her third goal of the season.
Jessie Smalley and
Sidney Bush split time in net and each made their fair share of saves throughout the game. Bush held her own in the second half, with consecutive stops against the impressive MU attack.
The Monarchs will return to action on Wednesday when they host Susquehanna University at 7 pm.
