Koslop and Venis Net Hat-tricks in Monarch Loss to Mount Saint Vincent

WILKES-BARRE, PA (March 15, 2022) --- Natasha Koslop paced the King's College women's lacrosse team with four goals while Grace Venis scored the first hat-trick of her Monarch career in a 16-14 loss to the College of Mount Saint Vincent on Tuesday night.

The Dolphins opened the game strong with a pair of goals in the first two minutes of the game to take an early 2-0 lead over KC. Koslop then took matters into her own hands and scored three consecutive goals for the Monarchs, giving her squad a one goal lead at the 10:19 mark in the first quarter. Mount Saint Vincent then scored three unanswered goals of their own to take a 5-3 lead with 8:53 remaining in the first quarter. Emily Sims then got on the board for King's, scoring her fourth goal of the season. First-year Alli Lindsay followed suit with back-to-back goals for the Monarchs to give them a 6-5 lead late in the first period. Carli Komorowski capped off the eventful opening quarter of play with a last minute goal, giving King's a two-goal cushion headed into the second period.

The second quarter saw more of the same as both squads continued to exchange goals. Venis scored all three of her goals in the second period while the Dolphins recorded four goals to bring the score to 10-9 in favor of the Monarchs headed into halftime.

Sims scored the first goal of the second half off an assist from Komorowski. The Dolphins then scored two consecutived before Koslop answered with a last-minute goal of her own to finish out the third period. The Monarchs remained one goal ahead headed into the fourth period with the score at 12-11. 

With a man-up advantage in the middle stages of the fourth period, Mount Saint Vincent scored three straight goals to take a two goal lead with 6:10 left in the game. The Dolphins then added two more to the tally to bring their lead to 16-12 with just under two minutes remaining. Komorowski and Dunworth found the back of the net for KC late in the fourth, but Mount Saint Vincent took home the win in a 16-14 final.

Koslop led the way with four goals, Venis added three, while Lindsay and Sims recorded two a piece. Dunworth notched her fourth straight game with a goal to continue her tremendous start in her Monarch career. Komorowski and Lindsay each posted two assists to lead the way for King's. Sidney Bush got the start in goal for KC and finished with seven saves before getting releived by Jessie Smalley who posted nine saves in the second half. 

Ashley Teal led the way for the Dolphins with five goals, while Ava Starace and Alicia Rodrigues each added four. Macey Forg recorded 11 saves in the win for M.S.V.

The Monarchs will return to action this Saturday when they travel to Hartwick College at 12:00 pm.
