Trio of First Years Leads King's in Loss at Arcadia

GLENSIDE, PA (March 30, 2022) -- A trio of first years tallied all four goals on Wednesday night as the King's College women's lacrosse team dropped their MAC Freedom opener, 16-4, at Arcadia University. With the loss, the Monarchs fall to 1-7 overall and 0-1 in MAC Freedom play, while the Knights improve to 4-6 and 1-0 in the conference standings.

Arcadia (4-6, 1-0 MAC Freedom) scored the first three goals of the game to go up, 3-0, with 9:29 to go in the opening period. First year Alli Lindsay got King's (1-7, 0-1 MAC Freedom) in the scoring column at the 8:13 mark of the period on an unassisted goal to pull within 3-1.

The Knights strung together another three goals before first year Carli Komorowski netted her goal with 1:18 to go before the end of the opening period thanks to a feed from Lindsay as King's trailed, 6-2.

After finding the net with two ticks left in the first, Arcadia then tallied six unanswered goals to take a 12-2 advantage with 12:10 to go in the third. Lindsay broke up the Knights scoring with 4:27 remaining in the period for her second unassisted goal of the game.

The hosts would score four more to go up 16-3 before first year Chloe Burke netted the final goal of the game with 3:08 to play as Arcadia earned the 16-4 win in the MAC Freedom opener on Wednesday night.

Lindsay led the Monarchs with three points on two goals and an assist on five shots, adding four draw controls, three caused turnovers, and two ground balls. Junior Jessie Smalley posted a team-best six ground balls while making 11 saves between the pipes in the first half. Senior Natasha Koslop also added four draw controls, while sophomore Sidney Bush made a team-best 12 saves in goal in the second half.

Arcadia was led by Ashley Starkey and Maddie Ruger with five points each, while Skylar Acker led the Knights with eight draw controls. Emily Griffith earned the win in goal as the starter, totaling five saves in 53:58 and posting a team-high seven ground balls.

As a team, the Monarchs were even with the Knights as each team earned 16 clears in the game. Arcadia also narrowly edged out King's in ground balls (27-24) and draw controls (13-10).

King's is back in action as they continue their MAC Freedom schedule on Saturday. The Monarchs will travel to Stevens Institute of Technology for a 1:00 p.m. start in Hoboken, NJ.
