WILKES-BARRE, PA (April 20, 2022) -- First year
Grace Venis netted five goals, all in the second half, to lead five Monarchs with hat tricks in the King's College women's lacrosse team's 21-2 win over Delaware Valley University on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Monarchs pick up their first MAC Freedom win and first win at McCarthy Stadium for the season and improve to 2-10 with a 1-4 mark in conference play, while the Aggies fall to 1-11 and 0-5 in MAC Freedom play.
The first half was dominated by the Monarchs as King's (2-10, 1-4 MAC Freedom) opened the scoring with eight unanswered goals as seniors

Alli Lindsay and
Carli Komorowski each netted two goals in the stretch.
Delaware Valley (1-11, 0-5 MAC Freedom) got on the board with 7:35 to go in the half as King's finished the half with four goals, including two by first year
Kyleigh Dunworth, to take the 12-1 lead into the halftime break.
The third period started much slower as the first goal was recorded with 5:59 to go in the third as Delaware Valley netted their second goal of the game. It was all Monarchs the rest of the way as they went on a 9-0 run to end the game and post the 21-2 final in the MAC Freedom contest in McCarthy Stadium.
Lindsay led the Monarchs with seven points on three goals and four assists, adding four ground balls and a team-best six draw controls. Venis totaled six points on her five goals and an assist, all on five shots, while Sims totaled four points with a hat trick and an assist with three ground balls, three caused turnovers, and three draw controls.
Komorowski, Koslop, and Dunworth all added hat tricks in the win, while sophomore
Sarah McCormick and first years
Chloe Burke and
Harley Sabol all added a point with McCormick netting her first career goal in the win with a team-high three caused turnovers. Sophomore
Sidney Bush earned the win between the pipes, totaling three saves and picking up a team-best five ground balls, while fellow-sophomore
Jessie Smalley made four saves.
Four different Aggies recorded a point in the loss, while Ashley Birmingham totaled a team-high five caused turnovers. Katie Frey was awarded the loss as she gave up all 21 goals while making seven saves and picking up a team-high five ground balls.
As a team, the King's out shot Delaware Valley 36-13 while forcing 29 Aggies turnovers. The Monarchs also held the edge in ground balls, 35-20, and were successful on 18 clears compared to just nine for the visitors.
King's is back in action on Saturday morning as they take on DeSales University in Center Valley, Pa. at 11:30 a.m. in the MAC Freedom contest.
