GLENSIDE, PA (OCTOBER 4, 2023) -- The King's College women's volleyball team falls to the Knights of Arcadia (3-13, 1-2 MAC) in a 0-3 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) matchup on Wednesday night. The Monarchs are now 0-3 in conference play and 9-6 overall.
King's had a hot start with a 6-3 push that included kills by
Emily Scott (Sr.) and
Morgan Williams (So.). Both teams eventually went back-and-forth without letting more than a two point gap. Arcadia soon would take the momentum of the set and create a 13-4 jolt to take the lead 23-14.
Kathy Shepherd (So.) and
Emma Bolich (Fy.) made a last effort for the Monarchs by tallying two kills to the stat sheet, but the Knights took the first set 25-19.
The second set was a battle between the two adversaries as the score tied seven times. King's pestered the Knights, but the home team had every answer. Arcadia eventually won 25-18.
The Knights opened the third and final set of the night with a 6-1 run and was in control from then on.
Keely Hoban (Jr.) sparked the Monarchs' offense with two consecutive aces to shorten their deficit to 11-8. Arcadia had five straight unanswered points and took the set 25-10.
King's ended the evening with 15 kills, 15 assists, 48 digs, and a hitting percentage of -0.022. Scott, Bolich, and
Joy Kindall (So.) had three kills each. Hoban set a standard for 13 assists and had 12 digs. Williams fueled the defense with 14 digs.
Arcadia's Alysa Dennison had a team high of 11 kills and Estefania Martinez-Sola dished out 19 assists. Nicole Dallara had 13 digs and Kailyn Riggi followed with 12 of her own.
The Monarchs are back on the road Friday, October 6
th at 6 p.m. to take on Penn State- New Kensington. The squad will have a quick turn around as they will travel to Steubenville, OH to battle the Barons of Franciscan on Saturday, October 7
th at 1 p.m. King's will be back home on Tuesday, October 10
th at 7 p.m. for a MAC Freedom matchup against Delaware Valley.
