WILKES-BARRE, PA (NOVEMBER 1, 2023) -- The King's College women's volleyball team drop 1-3 to the Devils of FDU-Florham on Wednesday night. The Monarchs saw multiple players earn double digit stats in their last Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom contest of the season in McGrane Gymnasium.
It was a battle throughout the first set as the crowd saw nine ties and six different lead changes. The score was 11-13 when King's (14-12, 1-6 MAC Freedom) took over with five straight tallies by
Morgan Bryant (Sr.),
Emily Scott (Sr.), and
Theresa Lynch (So.) to make it 16-13. The Devils (14-13, 1-6 MAC Freedom) answered back with their own three point push to tie it back up 16-16. It was neck and neck from there on out. FDU-Florham gradually won 25-23.
The Monarchs had a strong 10-6 start in the second set that included
Emma Bolich (Fy.),
Joy Kindall (So.),
Adriana Conforti (Jr.),
Mia Campanile (So.), and
Bella Salvia (So.). Both adversaries battled throughout the matchup. The Devils would try to inch their way towards the hosts, but King's had every answer and maintained their momentum. With a final kill by Salvia, the Monarchs took the second set 25-22.
FDU-Florham came back with vengeance and controlled much of the third set.
Lindsay Arezina (Fy.) made one final kill to rally her squad, but the Devils responded back with five straight points. FDU-Florham won 25-16Â
The fourth and final set of the evening was much like the first. King's made an 8-2 leap that included Campanile,
Emma Monson (Jr.), Kindall, and Salvia. The Devils revolted back with an 8-4 jolt to make the score 12-10 with the Monarchs still in control. It was a point for point game soon after, seeing the home crowd at the edge of their seats. A huge kill by Kindall made the crowd go wild as she tied the set 24-24. FDU-Florham eventually took the final set 26-24.
The Monarchs ended the night with 44 kills, 42 assists, six blocks, 77 digs, and a hitting percentage of .174. Kindall fueled the offense with 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .300.Â
Keely Hoban (Jr.) led with 20 helpers and Conforti was right behind with her own 18.
Morgan Williams (So.) sparked the defense with 28 digs and Salvia had 13.Â
The Devils' Arianna Wood had 12 kills and Rachel Reiter had 11 of her own. Tori Carrico had 24 dimes and Gianna Buscarino followed with 18. Charlotte Fruscione pushed the defensive end with 31 digs.Â
King's will finish out their season on the road for a tri-match in Collegeville, PA to take on Ursinus and Gwynedd Mercy starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 4
th.
