CHESTER, PA (November 11, 2023) --
Eamonn Walsh earned All-Tournament team efforts in the Widener Tip Off for Autism Awareness this weekend as the King's College men's basketball team fell, 91-75, to a tough Stockton University team on Saturday afternoon. The Monarchs now stand at 1-2 overall, while the Ospreys improved to 1-1 with the win at the Schwartz Center.
Â
After trading baskets through the early part of the game where neither team led by more than three points, King's (1-2) went on a 14-3 rally capped off by a three from
Jaden Hall to lead, 22-14, with 12:37 remaining in the half. Stockton (1-1) stuck around, but the Monarchs jumped ahead by double digits, 33-22, on a pair of free throws from Walsh. The Ospreys staged their comeback, closing within two with 6:03 to go, but the Monarchs continued to hold their edge. Stockton broke through as they took the 45-43 lead at the break.
Â
Stockton took control in the second half, but King's continued to stay within single digits until an Ospreys three with 10:35 to play in the contest. The Monarchs would battle down the stretch, but a tough Stockton team proved to be too much in the 91-75 setback on Saturday afternoon.
Â
Chris Patton led the scoring with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting, adding five rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal, while Walsh posted 14 points, three boards, and three takeaways. Hall came off the bench to tally 11 points and three helpers, while
Conner Griffin rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points and five caroms.
Jake Karnish collected a team-best seven rebounds, while
Carmine Castiello dished out a team-best four helpers.
Â
DJ Campbell led four in double figures with 16 points, while Tayvon Gaither added 14 with eight boards. Martin Anguelov posted 10 points and team-highs of four helpers and two steals in the win as well.
Â
King's shot 46.8 percent (29-62) in the loss, tallying 17 assist on 29 baskets, while forcing 19 turnovers and outscoring the Ospreys 25-19 in fast break points.
Â
King's will remain on the road as they take the short trip up to Penn State Scranton on Tuesday evening. Tip off is set for 8:00 p.m. in the non-conference match up.
